Old Movies Rock! Part 2

My Favorite Old Movies:

I love all these movies immensely, although my top-top favorites are Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (I know I've mentioned that four billion times but if you're new, you know now!), Singin' in the Rain, The Harvey Girls, and Easter Parade. None of them are even the teensiest bit more than the others because I just love them all SO much!!! If you haven't seen these movies, they are clean and very worth watching! I grew up seeing Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and I have to say, even if you don't like old movies, you'll like this one. Me, I love old movies. I especially love Fred Astaire, Jane Powell, Ginger Rogers, Bing Crosby, and just this year I've fallen in love with Judy Garland. It took me a while to get used to her because she's not the typical broadway star, but I love her! I especially like her in Easter Parade, because it has a scene about the Zeigfeld Follies.... how I would love to see a Zeigfeld Show. But alas, they are no longer because Mr. Zeigfeld passed a long time ago.... those golden years are over. boohoo!!!!!!!! Lol :).
Please excuse that ginormous paragraph of old-movie-blabbers.
Have a great week!

To start your day off right:

Well, not to make fun of anyone who does this in the morning but these are two ways of getting up and starting the day:
1. Roll out of bed, pull on some frumpy clothes or a robe, start the coffee maker and read the newspaper.
2. Roll out of bed, stay in your pj's, eat breakfast, lounge around, get dressed, do some chores here and there....
Well, I used to think No. 2 was the good one, the one I made a ritual... but now that I wrote it down, it ain't lookin too great.
But I do know the absolute best way to start your day, no matter what your style is.

Old Movies Rock! Part 1

Well, I was browsing the internet today and surprise, I found something out about the wonderful Singin' in the Rain Movie.
When Lina Lamont (Jean Hagen) sings "Singin in the Rain" at the end of the movie, you think that Kathy Selden (Debbie Reynolds) is singing for her.
And the curtain comes down, revealing Lina Lamont was not actually singing.

Or was she?

CAST LIST:
........
"Debbie Reynolds as Kathy Selden. Early on in production, Judy Garland (shortly before her contract termination from MGM), Kathryn Grayson, Jane Powell, Leslie Caron, and June Allyson were among the names thrown around for the role of the "ingenue." Yet, Director Stanley Donen and Gene Kelly insisted that Debbie Reynolds always was first in their mind for the role.[3] Although the film revolves around the idea that Kathy has to dub over for Lina's voice, even in the talking scenes, it was actually Jean Hagen's normal voice. Reynolds herself was dubbed in "Would You?" and "You are My Lucky Star" by an uncredited Betty Noyes.[4] Also, when Kathy is supposedly dubbing Lina's voice in the live performance of "Singing in the Rain" at the end of the film, Jean Hagen is actually dubbing Reynolds' speaking voice.[5]

Isn't that strange? It makes the movie all the more interesting to watch, knowing that Debbie Reynolds voice was played by Jean Hagen/Lina Lamont!!

:):) Happy Weekend!
