One Lovely Blog Award!

Thank you Jessica for awarding me with this wonderful award!!
Now I have to tell you 7 things about me:
1. I am reading through the entire Nancy Drew series in order (minus a few wierd ones)
2. I have never kept a diary and never plan to.
3. My all-time favorite movie is Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.
4. My favorite breakfast food is dinner leftovers.
5. The only "seafood" I've ever eaten is fish.
6. I don't know how to play any instruments but I can play piano a little by ear.
7. I would rather be infamous in the 1940's than be a famous today.

I'm passing this award onto...

Ponytails at My Passions for Fashions (the first blog I ever followed!)

Vintage Fashion Week on the rise....

From October 2nd to October 8th, I will be fashioning all the vintage I have for you!
If you'd like to join, you can comment each day with the link to your post. No prizes or anything, this is just for fun!
You can check out my past two fashion weeks here:

This Vintage Fashion Week might be a little like the Nancy Drew Fashion Week but hopefully I can twist it up and make it more interesting! Since it's vintage-themed, I've decided to copy a vintage picture with each outfit! It will be hard but fun!

I can't wait for it to start!

Raquel's Book Bliss Photography Contest!!!

Head on over to Raquel's blog and check it out!

Here are my two entries.

Sorry if my pictures are taking up some of the sidebar space. :)
Edited to note: The photo directly above is just one picture. I created it by collaging two pictures, so you could see that it was a book and a flower, instead of just something blurry at either end.

I'm so excited for this contest! :):) Also I am kind of bored lately... sure hoping for some clothing fashion week or something to happen! Lol. I'll probably just do one myself. :)

Thank you for your patience...you might see a new background every day for a while, until I figure out which one looks best! Hehe.

1940 Pictures

Hello everyone! (When was the last time I posted? It seems like forever ago.)
Browsing today, I found these most adorable vintage pictures.

These first three are actually not vintage pictures, but vintage outfits. LOVE!

This is Myrna Loy- we've watched her in the movie "Mr. Blanding Builds his Dream House" (not my favorite movie, a little too.... long). She's a cute actress though.

Know who this is?
Shirley Temple! She's 15 here, sitting on the diving board of her backyard pool. I want a backyard pool!!!!

Cute pattern- I totally want that dress! Very Nancy-Drewish.

And this one, too!

Time for a little guessing game....

Who's the bride? Answer: I don't know.
Who's the bridesmaid? Answer: I don't know.
Who's the flower girl? This one isn't to hard for fans...
Shirley Temple!!!!!!!
She is SOOO adorable in this picture, is she not? I love it!
I found all but the first three pictures at http://www.sensibility.com/

Cranberry Pink Glass Tea Cup And Saucer Demitasse

Vintage Aynsley Cranberry and Gold Teacup and Saucer

What can I say?
In a word: GORGEOUS!!!!!
This is my treasured Windsor teacup...I can't find it anywhere online and there are numbers on the bottom, so my mom and I think that it is one of only a few in the world!! Ok... so more than 2,000 is not just a few, but hey, this makes me feel special! Lol.

AHHH!!!! I love it. The forget-me-nots inside the cup, and I just LOVE teacups that are a solid color on the outside...white teacups are very pretty, yes, but this? Sigh!
Vintage teacups are today's theme. Yard sales are too. Hehe....those are good things for a Saturday, right? :) What are you doing on saturdays?

QUESTION: I want to know if you collect teacups- or what kinds are your favorites?

Ebay, although I don't usually like it too much, has a great array of vintage dresses- and in this selection I found many that appealed to my fashion senses. :):):)
The last one in particular I like- the ruffles on the back, the color combinations.... eep!
Have a great week!

That's a bed?!?!?

Click on the link below and scroll through a huge gallery of pictures of beds like these- more or less intricate.
Seriously- if you want a dream bed, are you willing to pay $40,000 dollars?
Yes, $40,000 was the price of this celebrity's daughters bed.
Uh.......a slide?

This one is absolutely adorable, but $16,000 isn't something I'm exactly dishing out of my pocket at the moment.

Well, this post started as a nautical-themed post.... but hey, I got carried away. :) I love this style of bedroom, it's adorable. I love the almost-quilt-like flooring, the trunks under the bed, and the bed itself- being like a bunk in a ship.

This one is so cute!! I love that it's the bed underneath and a playhouse on top!

Well, that's all for today....Hey, and guess what? The county fair is this weekend, so look for pictures!

Cutest Picture Idea....

Well, this idea popped into my head, and I know it's a well-used idea but it's still adorable. I most definitely want to do it at my wedding- especially since when I get married, there will probably be..... uh.....approx. 13 at this rate. If my good friend strike that, best friend Syd's mom keeps having babies, hehe. Oh, and won't it be adorable to have those approx. 13 people range in ages from like 26 (my oldest sister approx.) to like 2? Well anyway, those are my approximations for approximately 7ish years from now. Hehe.
So cute!!!!!!! Although I'm planning my colors to be more like green and white, not black. :)
So, approximately.....never mind.
:)

Time for a break...

Hey, sorry everyone.... I feel like I have been so out of it lately! So, I will not be feeling obligated to post for the next week or so- taking a break! Hopefully I will be back in the norm before long. Before I go, I'd like to share a picture:
I love this!! Dolphins bowriding are the best.
Well, I'll see you later!

2: This pioneer gown is so cute! I love the matching hat- everything should have a matching hat! But also, The dress itself is so sweet! The style, the lace, the neckline.... oh, I want it for myself!

See you next Twosday!

My Hand at Food Photography

Haha, I just noticed that my last post and this one are both about apples! That's funny. :)
Well, I didn't feel like going to http://www.picnik.com/ and playing with my pics, so I just used our less-awesome photo editor.
Some saturation here, focus b&w there, and a some highlights.

Warmify and shadows played a big part of this picture.

This one is highlights, shadows, and saturation, making it a little bit too contrasting.

I love food photography because you get to make something yummy.
I've never had bell peppers in my life- it's just not something we use, but sometimes they look SO good. In pictures. You don't just see a random SOOTC (straight out of the camera) shot in that Taste of Home magazine or that ad for mac and cheese. They fix and touch up those photos so much you are probably looking at more computer bytes than real food! (ok, that's just an opinion, but don't you agree?)

Another reason why I like food photography is because I go WAY overboard editing pictures sometimes. With food, I have to keep it simpler, because it's just food. There's no need for "foggy focus" or "sepia" or even "retouch".... sometimes. I did use retouch on the first picture. You can see, near the stem of the apple on the second picture, there's a bruise... but I retouched it on the first one. No bruise!

What's your favorite thing to photograph?
Mary~

P.S. Sadly, Twosday Favs and Then and Now Thursdays are gonna have to wait a little- remembering to do those two on the certain days is a little hectic. Sorry about that- I'll try to fix it soon!
